Validation Procedures at the SLU Lobby Reception
Generally, SLU garage users fall into three categories:
1) Those with quarterly/annualpermits; 2) Self-Pay parkers; 3) Parkers requiring spitter ticket validation

For the above the following options exist:

a. Individual Commuter Ticket (ICT) users
b. Campus permit holders visiting SLU
c. Harborview permit holders
d. Guests charged to budgets
e. VIPs (special events) charged to budgets
f. Retirees
g. Free parkers after hours

The following procedures apply to those requiring ticket validations.

ICT USERS
ICTs from any UW system lot are accepted for parking validation at Reception.
The ICT user shows the ICT to the receptionist with the day’s date marked on the ICT
(circled day and month).

Receptionist will note the name of the user, log the entry with date and indicate “ICT”.
ICT user holds onto their ICT for use at other campus lots.

The Parking Log is used to confirm the in-and-out privilege of the user; that person may
return later in the day and receive additional validations.

CAMPUS PERMIT HOLDERS VISITING SLU
Note: S-1 permit holders may have their Husky Cards programmed to be read by the gate
card readers. The campus permit holder visiting SLU presents their permit at Reception as proof in order to receive a validation. The log is marked with permit holder’s name and “Out of Area” is noted.

HARBORVIEW PERMIT HOLDERS
The Harborview permit holder presents their permit at Reception as proof in order to
receive a validation. The log is marked with permit holder’s name and “Harborview
Permit” is noted.

GUESTS
Guests arriving at campus are to be hosted by a department (administrative unit or lab).
All guests are directed to check in at Reception, Unit representatives will be contacted to
provide escort. The host unit is responsible for providing a stamped validation (sample
attached) on the face of the guest’s ticket. This stamped department name and budget
number will be used to log the validation at Reception, before the guest departs.
For later reconciliation, some units may wish to include the names of the guest and host
along with the stamp.  Reception will log this information.

VIPs
Individual VIPs are treated similarly to Guests.  For group events (i.e. Board of Directors), the hosting unit will collect tickets from VIPs, mark the tickets with their unit stamp and bring the tickets to Reception for validation during the event. Reception will log the name of the event and the number of tickets validated.  These validated tickets will then be distributed to the attendees prior to departure.  Note that the tickets are not user specific; any validated ticket may be given to any
attendee.

U.W. RETIREES (does not apply to working retirees)
Complimentary parking will be extended to U.W. retirees during the standard hours the
garage is open (7:00am to 5:30pm). Retirees will pull a ticket to enter the garage and will
need to have the ticket validated at the reception desk. Reception will log the retiree’s
name and any other information needed by commuter services. Note that retirees receive a
special Husky Card.

FREE PARKING AFTER HOURS
(SLU garage is free after 3:30PM weekdays and all day on weekends)
Ticket validation is required to actuate the exit gates. Parkers arriving after 3:30 weekdays (tickets are time stamped) should immediately come to reception for a validation.

Log will be noted as “Free” with ticket’s time stamp noted.  After Reception desk is closed (5:30PM and weekends), please contact Security for
validation (206-268-9823).
